Taking Part Guidelines

Below are some key guidelines for Taking Part in Phantom Peak.

COSTUMES & DRESSING UP

  • We love to see visitors dress up. Phantom Peak is a unique place - think of it like an old west town with some modern technology elements. We see some visitors dress in steampunk gear, while others dress for a western. There is no pressure to dress up, and you'll feel comfortable whatever you wear.
  • Please be considerate with how you dress & act at Phantom Peak - remember that this is not an adult only event and so all costumes must be appropriate for children.
  • Please do not bring any weapons to Phantom Peak, whether real or not.
  • Please do not wear full face masks to Phantom Peak, you may be asked to remove this by our team. Masks covering part of your face, including medical/surgical masks, are allowed.
  • Please ensure your costume does not hinder the experience for other guests, such as tall hats, large costume pieces, or anything that drags along the floor. You may be asked to remove these at certain points if it is detracting from somebody else's experience.
(it's worth remembering that you may get some strange looks wearing a top hat - only Jonas is allowed to wear top hats in Phantom Peak!)
  • Around Halloween, we often see our visitors dress in seasonal cosplay or in more scary outfits. Again, please be considerate & appropriate in how you dress. Remember - Hallowed Peak is meant to be spooky, not scary.

TAKING PART

We love how immersed and involved the community has become. Here are a few gentle reminders to help preserve the magic for everyone:

  • Respect the Fantasy: If you see someone breaking character with a performer such as asking about another actor or referencing outside knowledge, kindly remind them that the shared illusion is what makes Phantom Peak special. Breaking that world makes it harder for everyone, especially our actors.
  • Preserve The Magic: Remember that, for the majority, it is their first time at Phantom Peak. They should experience Phantom Peak as intended, just as you might have. Everybody deserves to enjoy their visit for the first time.
  • Protect The Structure: Please do not try to influence the structure of the day. Some things in Phantom Peak are sacred, such as the way we celebrate our festivals (Opening & Closing Ceremonies) and underlying events such as Platyhooks. Please do not introduce new ways to engage with these core structures.
  • Keep It In-World: Performers at Phantom Peak are playing characters, not themselves. Please don’t refer to them by their real names or ask about their personal lives. They’re entitled to privacy, and we ask you to help protect that.
  • Respect People's Privacy: Our actors are not their characters, they’re people with lives, families, other jobs, and the right to step away from the Peak when they clock off. Please don’t seek out or share personal information about performers, or expect them to engage outside of the world of the show.
  • Cast Changes Are Natural: Sometimes a different actor will be playing a familiar character. That’s totally normal and this should not draw comment from our visitors. Be kind about this, remember that this is our actors' place of work and deserve respect. People have other projects, obligations, and adventures. That’s part of the magic too.
  • No Impersonation: Please do not impersonate staff or cast members. If you are mistaken for a member of the Phantom Peak team, please make it clear that you are not. You are, however, welcome to help people where appropriate (for example, with trails).
  • No Quid Pro Quo: Giving gifts to our characters does not mean you will receive, or should expect, any special treatment. We love the gifts, but it does not guarantee anything more than a simple ‘thank you’. Please do not give gifts for anybody except the characters of Phantom Peak - addressing it to a specific actor would be considered a breach of their privacy and our terms & conditions.
  • Shenanigans Within Reason: Interactions such as side quests or 'shenanigans' should stay between yourself and the characters of the town. Please do not force these to bleed into a wider storyline - follow the characters’ guidance on this!
  • Have Fun: Always have fun when you visit Phantom Peak, but be considerate of others’ experiences.
